Some Anxiety Issues During Pregnancy

Pregnancy is an emotional time, and anxiety is just one of many feelings that pregnant women experience. A moderate amount of new fears and worries is normal and expected during this time of change.

It’s normal to feel a little worried and stressed during pregnancy, but for some people, anxiety can become a real problem and they will need some help.

Feeling anxious while pregnant is completely normal. It’s natural to worry about whether your baby is healthy, have fears about being a good parent, or stress about how your relationship with your partner will change. The changes in your hormone levels that come with pregnancy can also affect your mood and emotions, making you more prone to worry and stress.

Pregnant Besides Wall

Many women get some minor abdominal cramping in early pregnancy, but as one noted (Interview 44 above), there is little information about it. In some cases, it is a sign that something is wrong (such as a miscarriage starts, or an ectopic pregnancy.

One woman experienced bloating, sharp pains and sickness in the early weeks as a side effect of IVF. She had developed the ovarian hyper-stimulation syndrome, where the fertility drugs used have over-stimulated the ovaries. In rare cases, this can be serious.

Pregnancy can be a very emotional experience and it can sometimes be difficult to know whether your feelings are manageable or a sign of something more serious.

A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of something. It is rare, but some women are so afraid of giving birth that they don’t want to go through with it, even if they really want to have the baby. A severe fear of childbirth may also affect their decision on how to give birth to their baby. This is called Tokophobia.

If you are having overwhelming feelings of anxiety or terror about anything to do with your pregnancy.

Some women develop a fear of childbirth because they have had a traumatic birthing experience, miscarriage or neonatal death. In this case, they may have post-traumatic stress disorder.

Occasionally, bouts of anxiety may lead to panic attacks. These attacks may start very suddenly with the symptoms above, and progress. During a panic attack, your symptoms may be very physical in nature, which can make the experience that much worse.

Other some common symptoms are feeling an uncontrollable sense of anxiousness. Worrying excessively about things, especially your health or baby. Inability to concentrate. Feeling irritable or agitated. Having tense muscles. Sleeping poorly.
