GMAT Scoring And Percentiles
The total score for the GMAT exam has a range of 200 to 800, with the majority of test takers getting somewhere between a 400 and 600. As of July 1, 2015, a score of 570 was in the 50th percentile, and scores between 760 and 800 were in the 99th percentile. Only the scores on the Verbal and Quantitative sections make up the total score.
Verbal And Quantitative Scores
The total range for both the Verbal and the Quantitative sections of the GMAT exam goes from 0 to 60. To give you an idea of how people generally perform, scores less than 9 or greater than 44 in the Verbal section occur very infrequently. The same can be said for Quantitative scores less than 7 or greater than 50.
Analytical Writing Scores
The Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA) will be reviewed by two different scorers. One of these reviewers may simply be a computer specifically programmed to analyze your writing skills and patterns. The two scores you receive will be averaged together; AWA scores start at 0 and go to 6 by half-point intervals. In case the scores vary by more than a full point, you will receive a third evaluation by an expert reader.
