A mob of whiskery boys, in formal dress and white, watches in hand, blend with girls, some wearing veil, and others unveiled were gathered in courtyard, the floor of which was marbled.

Look at the underlined part. Does it seems right. If yes then you have to select the “No Change” option provided on SAT. Otherwise identify the correct one from the options.

So for choices,

in A, 'were' is the verb, but here the subject is mob. As it is singular, so were is not preferred. So, A is incorrect.
The same is the case with B.
Look at D. As in sentence there is description of mob which must be enclosed in commas, so D is best one as it posseses it.
