A. Simple sentences:
A sentence that contains one independent clause is called Simple sentences. Independent clause is identified by counting the no. of subject and verb in the sentence.
For example:
'I do push-ups and walk yesterday’
In the above sentence there is only one subject but the verbs are two.
'I and Adam went to the barber'
Here, we have two subjects, yet just one verb.
Both of these sentences would be simple sentences.
B. Compound sentence:
A sentence that has two independent clauses that are joined by coordinate conjunction is called compound sentence.
For example:
I went to the barber and Adam went to the park.'
There are two subjects and verbs: I and Adam, and went to the barber and went to the park respectively.
The two clauses are linked using a conjunction - and.
C. Complex sentence:
A sentence that contains one independent clause and one or more dependent clauses that are joined by subordinating conjunctions is called complex sentence .
For example:
'Robins left the study because he failed.'
The independent clause is Robins left the study. The subordinating conjunction gives us the reason he left the study - because he failed.
