Though essay is optional in new SAT, but most college demanded it. Many experts recommends to take essay as well if you have learnt the guidelines and principles of writing. It would help you in showing your skills to your college. Writing skills are an important part of any college experience, and admissions officers will appreciate the efforts you make.

In SAT, you are not asked to write your viewpoint about certain topic. Rather you are given some primary source text, such as a newspaper article or transcript of a speech or a paragraph novel and asked to describe the authors perspective and style about that. You are actually required to cast a light on the arguments, claims and examples provided by author about the content. So, you by practicing you can develop the understanding of others mind and write it up. Here, we will discuss tips to command on it.

Say what you mean, mean what you say.

Read the text carefully before writing the essay. Think for a while and focus that what should you have gathered from it. Analyze the text. If you have one or two ideas about what you have just read organize it and form an essay. Otherwise reread it to get the actual point of it.

Take the time to plan.

Planning is very crucial before writing an essay. So, plan according to following elements

To grab your reader's attention and state your thesis, you should give an introductory paragraph. So, you could show that what you are going to present in your essay.
You must build three supporting paragraph so to state your thesis.
Restate your whole essay in a concluding passage.

Evidence, evidence, evidence.

Reference from the given text attracts your essay reader. So, you should make sure that you have used at least a direct evidence presented in the content. It might be shown that the paragraph is inaccurate if you cannot find such evidence. So, try to use these evidence in inverted commas.

Be neat, be tidy.

You should proof read grammar, spelling, capitalization and punctuation in essay after writing it. If you are doubted of any word spelling then try to replace it with its synonym. Calligraphy also counts in your SAT essay. You must write neat and clean so your reader find ease. Test checkers do not have enough time to read your paper keenly as they have dozen of them.

They never bother to spent time on your paper to understand what actually you have written. Similarly, indent each paragraph clearly at its starting and ending. Avoid your paper from stray markings or scratches. Write simply and clearly so your essay attracts reader.
