Basics of Algebra

Algebraic Equations

Course Detail

  • The addition of the same number on both sides does not affect the equations.
  • Same number can be subtracted from both sides.
  • Both sides if multiplied or divided by same number (except 0) do not affect the equation.
  • Both sides can be squared.
  • Square root of both sides van be taken if both sides are positive.
  • Reciprocal of both sides can be taken.

Solution of Equation

Solution of an equation is to find the value of the variable used in the equation. For example, 3X - 5 = 7 can be solved to find the value of x.

3X - 5 = 7 → 3x = 7 + 5 → x = 12/3 → x = 4 is the solution of the equation.
