Summer vacation is a long period of joy which is free of usual obligations and duties. The students wait for these long holidays throughout the year. Many of their plans require much time to be accomplished and summer vacation offer a lot of leisure to fulfill these desires. In the last June, as it was expected, I got summer vacation. It was an extended joy of three months. I, with my family, have already chalked out a plan to visit one of my uncles in the village near Islamabad. As most of the year we stay at home due to our educational engagements, this was the only opportunity for us to avail.

My uncle was also waiting impatiently for our visit. He lived at a farm house with his family. He is a fanner by profession. He grows a variety of vegetables at his farm. Seeing a large number of crops was a novel experience for me. He uses modern machinery for cultivation. I often spent my day in the orchard. I did my homework for vacation mostly sitting under shady trees of this orchard. It was really a great fun. I enjoyed the beauty of nature throughout my stay there. I felt fresh air and clean water in the pure environment of the village. Morning and evening walks were the regular feature of my life there. Walking through the fields had a great charm. My routine was rather different than the humdrum urban life. In the hot summer, whey was a delicious regular drink for every time. I used a lot of eatables grown in my uncle’s fields or made at home by my aunt. I spent every moment in the close vicinity of nature and greenery.

In fact, village was my top priority for many reasons. I knew that there I could spend my vacation in a calm and peaceful surrounding which is necessary for study. IL was an atmosphere most suitable for a student to do his educational assignments arid playful activities.

In the moonlit nights, I wandered aimlessly about the ploughed fields. The serenity of dim light was very much fascinating to me. In the day time I also spent my time in bird-watching. I love their different colors and shades. The melody of their songs awoke me early in the morning. I watched my uncle ploughing in the fields and sowing seeds. I also observed the whole family of my uncle reaping the crops in the blazing heat of the sun.

All these experiences were, in fact, a great source of knowledge for me. These were the things which I always missed in my urban life. This observation was satisfying and enjoying. I spent my summer vacation in a useful activity which imparted me a great deal of valuable knowledge and pleasure in the true sense of word.
