The Five-Paragraph Essay

A standard essay is based on 5 paragraphs. These paragraphs are named below.

Essay Components

The essay has following components:

• Introduction paragraph
• Body paragraphs
• Conclusion paragraph

These are explained in detail next.

Thesis Statement

The introductory paragraph contains the thesis statement. It depicts the reader about the whole theme of essay. The argument which you are going to state in essay is declared in thesis statement. As our body paragraphs are 3, so the thesis statement contains the theme of all these paragraphs. The essay is represented by following structure:

Body Paragraph Content

Body paragraphs are the source to prove the argument build in thesis. They may be 3 or more paragraphs. From the 3 body paragraphs first one would present the supporting information related to the build thesis. It would served as supportive family paragraph. The other paragraph would be written to put influence on the readers about your arguments. The last paragraph show the importance of his desire to succeed.

The evidences like related examples, some statistical data, story or event similar to that not only provide the strength to the argument but also their use in paragraph is highly appreciated.

Avoid to use or present the irrelevant illustration. It would let our scores down and your essay would be disliked.

Maintaining Focus

Irrelevant information or material is intensely disliked in essay as it distract the attention of reader from the main topic. So, you must stay focused on the topic each specific paragraph. In formal essay, the personal statements like 'I think' or 'I feel' are not accepted. So, to keep your focus you are advised to review the topic sentence while writing.

Transitions

You should also ensure the use of transitions while shifting from one idea to another as it’s admired by readers.Transition served as the alert sign for the readers. Though all the paragraphs are based on same idea but sometimes in order to prove argument this idea may be shift. So, for readers ease transitions are used.

Conclusion Paragraph

Now after passing through all steps you need to sum up your ideas in a single passage. This paragraph is known as concluding paragraph. Without the conclusion your essay seems incomplete. Like introductions, conclusion is also overlooked as they represents the whole idea of your argument. And it is the last impression on your reader. So, you must give conclusion of your passage more effectively.

Never introduce new idea in this paragraph rather rephrase the above ideas..
