Books for Knowledge and Amusement
Reading books is a common pursuit of people across the world. They study for knowledge and amusement. Some studies at random. But there are readers who choose the matter of study purposefully. Everyone selects some book according to his taste and need.
Human beings generally want to make their lives happy and they ever remain busy to get this end. But most of them fail in their aim as they do not know the ins and outs of this subject.
The Conquest of Happiness
“The Conquest of Happiness”, written by Bertrand Russell is the book that gave me an insight into this matter. I, many times, read this book and learn practical knowledge which made my life happier. This book satisfied me to such an extent that I can safely call it my favorite book.
Bertrand Russell divided the book into two parts. In the first part, he discusses what makes people unhappy while in the second part he suggests the secrets of happiness.
His valuable thoughts are reproduced here briefly:
Unhappiness is largely due to mistaken views of the world.
Enjoy life, gradually acquiring many desired things and dismissing certain unattainable objects of desire.
Learn to be indifferent to yourself and your deficiencies. Pay attention to the state of the world and individuals for whom you feel affection.
Not only is love a source of delight, but its absence is a source of pain.
