A Different Experience

After spending many years at school, I was fascinated a great deal by the thought of a different life at college. I have heard a lot about the free, independent, and interesting life of the college. I came to know that life in a college is more fun than a serious effort to get an education. At college friendships, outdoor excursions are chalked out. There is no so-called discipline of the school.

Contrast to School Life

In spite of some knowledge, I did not know many things about college life. I thought that I should take the books on all subjects with me as it was the routine in school days. Strangely enough, I packed them and headed to the college early in the morning. With the company of some new students, I entered the college. On the ground, we came across a group of senior students who stopped us in a bossy way. Then they forced us to amuse them with some funny songs. We were very much confused but there was no other way than to obey them. In the meanwhile, another group of new students entered and the senior students turned to them and we got relieved.

We were in a hurry to attend our classes. At the notice board there was schedule of our time table. After consulting it, we reached the lecture room. The lecturer came and behaved very friendly. He was not rigid like the school teacher. He introduced himself and sought our introduction. All this happened in a very pleasant atmosphere. There was no strain upon our minds. Then he left the class telling us that regular classes will be held tomorrow. On the first day, some lecturers even did not bother to attend the class. The most perplexing and confusing thing was that I was lifting the bundle of my books everywhere needlessly. I concluded that at college there was a relaxed way of learning. There was no fear of teachers.

Pleasant Impression

As a whole, I got a pleasant impression of college life. I realized that now we have to be responsible and mature as there is no accountability. Now we should come true to the expectations of our parents. They have pinned high hopes on us. And now we have to work a lot on our own. We should be more active than the administration and the teaching staff.

At college, everyone struggles to make proper preparation for the examination. No one asks the students to work hard. Our own sense of responsibility guides us at every step and makes us work hard. We should prove with our results that we are trustworthy and we deserve the love and care of our family.
